We're not your typical suits-and-blueprints operation. Just a bunch of designers who got tired of cookie-cutter buildings and decided to do something about it.
Started back in 2012 when three of us were working late nights on a project that nobody else wanted to touch. You know the type - complicated site, tight budget, client wanted "something different but not too different." Instead of playing it safe, we went all in.
That building's still standing on Queen West, and people actually stop to look at it. That's when we figured we might be onto something.
Fast forward to now - we've grown from that cramped shared office to a proper studio in King West. Still keep the same energy though. Every project's a chance to push boundaries, figure out new ways to make buildings work with their environment instead of against it.
We've done everything from tiny residential renovations to full-scale urban developments. The thread that ties it all together? We actually give a damn about the spaces people live and work in.
Buildings should do more than just exist. They need to earn their spot on the planet.
Look, anyone can draw a box with windows. We're here to create spaces that make people stop and think "okay, that's different." But different in a way that actually works, not just for show.
Sustainability isn't a buzzword for us - it's just how we work. Every material choice, every system we spec, every orientation decision gets put through the wringer. Can't build for tomorrow if we're trashing today.
At the end of the day, real people gotta use these spaces. We spend time understanding how folks actually move, work, and live. The fancy renders mean nothing if the building doesn't feel right when you're in it.
A quick look at how we got here
Three architects, one shared office, too much coffee. Started taking on projects nobody else wanted. Learned a lot about what NOT to do.
Landed a mixed-use development in Liberty Village. Client took a chance on our sustainable approach. Project won an OAA award and suddenly people were returning our calls.
Moved to our King West studio and brought on some seriously talented designers. Each person brought their own specialty - urban planning, heritage work, interior design. We became way more than the sum of our parts.
Made it official - every project had to meet strict environmental standards. Lost a few clients over it, but gained ones who actually cared about building responsibly. Best decision we made.
Working on projects across Ontario, collaborating with cities on urban planning, mentoring young architects. Still figuring things out, but we're getting better at it every day.
The folks who make it happen
Principal Architect
Been pushing boundaries since day one. Specializes in sustainable commercial projects and won't compromise on environmental standards. Also makes terrible coffee.
Urban Planning Lead
Sees cities as living organisms. Spent five years working with Toronto's planning department before joining us. Has strong opinions about bike lanes.
Heritage & Restoration
The person you want when dealing with century-old buildings. Knows more about Victorian architecture than anyone should. Saved three heritage sites from demolition last year.
Interior Design Director
Makes spaces feel right. Started in set design, which explains a lot. Believes every room should tell a story, even if it's just a bathroom.
Residential Lead
Believes homes should be more than just shelter. Listens to what people actually need instead of what they think they want. Her projects always feel lived-in from day one.
Sustainability Consultant
The guy who knows everything about green building tech. Former engineer who got frustrated with wasteful building practices. Now he's our conscience on every project.
Project Manager
Keeps us all on track and on budget. Somehow manages to wrangle contractors, clients, and stubborn architects. We'd be lost without her organizational wizardry.
Technical Director
Makes sure our wild ideas can actually stand up. Background in structural engineering means he's saved us from a few "creative" disasters. Also our go-to for 3D modeling.
We're always up for a good challenge. If you've got a project that needs more than just the usual approach, let's talk.
